ENTOMBMENT OF CHRIST, 48” x 72”, 1996
This is my version of Titian’s ‘ The Entombment of Christ’ painted in 1520 that hangs in the Louvre in Paris France. This is a very large imposing canvas. My version of this subject is darker than that of Titian’s. I didn’t want the viewer to be able make out the details of the face of Christ, and have them concentrate on the other elements in this rendition. Copying works of the great masters is a great way to learn how to successfully put paint on the canvas.
