AUTUMN JAY, 20” x 38”, 1989
The jay is one of our best known birds. They are aggressive and bold and can be extremely noisy. This painting came from a scene I encountered on Birch Point Road in Muskoka were the jays were bathing in a shallow pond near our home after a heavy rainfall.

This is a detail from the painting.
