GREAT GRAY OWLS AT NEST , 24” x 33”, 1989
Great gray owls are known as the ‘ghosts of the north’. These large predators are so elusive that most go unseen, veiled by the great wilderness forest and it’s mysteries. This painting, showing a pair of adults at their nest with their owlets, is also veiled by a series of color washes giving it a misty feeling. Here, the male owl has flown to the nest with a pocket gopher, and has given it to the female who feeds the young.
This painting was released as a limited edition print.
