Whitetail Deer, 12” x 24”, 2007
The white-tailed deer also known as the whitetail, is a medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America. This painting is a portrait of the whitetail. This portrait was done as a study for another painting.
We made our own deer feeding station at our home and we have five deer that visit us every night from the adjacent Brooker Creek Wildlife Preserve. We put out whole corn, cracked corn, and any fruits and vegetables that are left over. It’s a great joy to watch them and photograph them from a very large tinted window near the feeding station. The deer actually eat of their own bowls and of course they have their own names.
