It is known by a variety of regional names such as the brown bass, wide mouth bass, bigmouth bass, black bass, bucket mouth, Potter’s fish, and Florida bass. The largemouth is the state fish of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and Tennessee. Largemouth bass are keenly sought after by anglers and are noted for the excitement of their fight.
