THE SS SAGAMO SUNSET CRUISE 1912, 30” x 50", 1992
The painting depicts a sunset cruise on the steamship SS Sagamo on Lake Muskoka circa 1912. She was launched july 25, 1906 in Gravenhurst Ontario and christened the Sagamo or 'Big Chief'. The Sagamo was designed with two full decks above the hull, and two additional partial decks above. on the main deck was the galley and dining room which seated 90 people. There were lounges on the second and third decks. The ship could hold 800 passengers with luggage and a crew of 26.

During renovations in August 1969 a fire broke out which burned the entire wooden portion of the vessel, leaving only the steel hull.
